sound/music making software

i'm looking for a software program thats basically like a digital keyboard. that i can use to make sound effects and music. you guys wouldnt happen to know of anything like this would you?

Have you tried to Audacity (free) i've used it and i find it's great for music editting.. or you can try sonar.

Sonar - more professional for recording music.
Audacity - Free but can be used for recording via the line in or microphone input of your computer. But great for greating multiple tracks.

yes, i use audacity. but what i mean, create audio...not record it. its kind of hard to explain.

I use cool edit pro 2. It's the most cool software that I have ever come across

FL Studios is wonderful, I use it but I'm currently looking for a better drum beat creator. Do you know of any?

well i use ACID pro its loop based.
i downloaded fruityl loops, but it was to hard for me to understand...so i'm taking that one slow.
