Sound Problem Windows XP Home

well plainly I have no sound on Windows XP SP2 Home.

I had to recently format my drive like I have done 10 times prior to this so I installed and did my programs and updated my drives but here is the problem.

Firstly I have a PCI device that wont install from my driver DVD which I have no clue what it is and I don't have sound when I look in the device manager it says I have audio but when I click audio sounds and devices it says I have no audio devices or when I play a audio file it says no sound devices.

Thing is the last 10 times I did this I didn't have this problem my disk worked on all the files perfectly so this is strange problem to me I have not added anything other then a 7600GT graphics card which I never use anymore since this isn't my gaming rig.

I am not quite sure what a PCI device is but I can only guess its tied in with my sound issue. I am manualy trying all my drive files to see if maybe it just can't find it by itself.

When I got to Volume Control it says this as well.
There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Also went to the main stie and tried all the drivers on http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T6528
Nothing seemed to work how ever.

If you have any ideas PLEASE post um this is becoming pretty annoying problem.

If you added a new sound card in after buying the system that already has onboard sound on it you have to go into the bios setup when first turning the system in order to disable the onboard. The onboard is in conflict with the sound card added in later there. This is why the updates from eMachines fail to work as well.

The user manual will explain where to look in the bios and how to enter the setup there. While most systems see the "press DEL now to enter setup" onscreen message on the first post screen that may have an F key assigned for this. Once that is disabled you may have to remove and then see a reinstall of the software/drivers for the expansion card there. Or you would go into the device manager and right click on the yellow marked items especially in the sound, video, and game controllers section and choose the update driver option.

This would be the way to see this done if you have the original software/driver disk for the installed sound device. If not you would heve to remove the card and use the 6 channel onboard sound. The cd for the installed card will show who made the card like Creative, Pine, or another brand.

You either need the AC97 audio driver or the Realtek high definition driver depending on which one you have in your system. Are you sure you tried both of those drivers?
