Sound Problems, periodically muddled and slow

I recently built my first desktop computer. Turned out to be a success, which I was very happy about, but I have 1 problem. I currently have my computer feeding to my LG TV, 6+ years old, via HDMI. Everything works great except for the sound. It comes through fine and then periodically the sound will become slowed down and very incomprehensible, almost like the signal from my computer is being interfered disrupted. Typically this lasts between 4-8 seconds and then returns to normal. I would say the frequency is once every minute or 2 minutes, but sometimes more frequent. Doesn't really seem to be affected by how many tasks i'm performing as it happens even when I'm solely sitting on the current window I'm playing the music from i.e. youtube, pandora, etc... This doesn't happen when I plug in headphones via the front panel. I currently have the HDMI feeding out of my graphics card, GeForce GTX760 which should be plenty able to handle this task. My processor is an i5 4670k so I wouldn't think running 8tracks or Pandora and feeding HDMI to a TV should be bogging down enough to cause this. I have all drivers associated with my motherboard, ASUS Z97-A, and graphics card up to date.

My only thought is maybe my HDMI cable ,which is from my Xbox 360 that I got 5+ years ago, might not be up to the task. I have not had an opportunity to try a different HDMI cable. It could also be my TV not being able to handle both at the same time as it too is fairly old, but still 1080P. I'm fairly new to computer tech side so any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for your time!

Would try a different hdmi cable first. Is your hdmi driver up to date on the video card?
