spam email

How is it that I continually get spam email when the name under "to" on the email is not even my own. Say my email is [email protected] but the name under "to" is [email protected] I thought the "to" was the way in which an email knew where to go. Similar to my address.

is the "to" an actual address? If it isn't then it will most probably be a huge chunk of people in a category that you fall under, that is why you got it.

no, to is not in the name. it is the field you put the email address into. How does my email address of [email protected] fall into the category of [email protected]??
