Speaker pop with screen issue together, very strange

3 days ago, out of now where, Im watching a DVD on my 2nd computer, while gaming on the 1st, and the second comps speakers pop a little. Just one not so loud pop. And it started to happen randomly , but spaced apart about 5 min give or take. So, i figured maybe its the dvd, so I watched a video on you tube, same thing.
So, i gave up, and just left it there, and STILL, speakers on, screen on, the speakers pop. Now, one thing I do notice is, when the pop happens, the screen has an issue as well in time with the pop. For example, if its just on looking at the desktop, it will flicker with the pop, if its a video, it cuts the sound to the video, and the video glitches out, like a pause or skip.

I have been building my own computers since 1995, and I do it every 4 years. Once one is build it becomes my primary, and the old primary becomes the secondary and the old secondary gets donated to a school.
I have repaired many problem parts before, but this time I have no idea where to start.

Just to rule out software, I formatted and did a clean install. All drivers and just windows 7 home premium. Still does it. Now its just guess work for me, but I would hate to buy part after part just to repair the older one.
Here are my guesses as to what parts could be doing it.

Video card is my 1st guess

Motherboard 2nd

Memory 3rd

Power supply 4th

I just dont see it being the Sound card, i dont see how the sound card can effect video.

I am not by any stretch of the imagination an expert in computers, all did was to teach my self what the parts do, and how to build them. Im not a OverClocker or anything like that. And Im a fan junkie, I like lots of them, with high RPMs.

Maybe from those symptoms someone here might know exactly what this is?

Thank you for taking the time to read my mess, hehe.

The simplest way to start is to connect the screen & speakers to your primary system and see if the same problem occurs, this should narrow down the problem to speakers & monitor or a part of the computer.

I just gave that a try, and they work fine on mine main one. And, while I was at it, I checked to see how many gigs of ram I have in the old one, 4 gigs, and they are all working fine. So, rams off the list, monitor and speakers off the list.

So, now im thinking the order is like this:

Video Card

Power Supply

Motherboard

Both comps are plugged into the same surge suppressor , which is a high end power cleaner as well.

Well i think we are certainly narrowed to a problem with your secondary pc, before you go looking at a hardware fault are all your drivers up to date, graphics, audio etc.

My honest guess would be that it's a power surge of some sort going through your system. Whether that's the result of an influx of power from the wall or a messed up PSU. My computer speakers pop whenever the bathroom light gets turned on or off 2 rooms away. Maybe try unplugging from the surge protector and just into a regular power strip. Maybe try a different power outlet or a different room on a different breaker.

Can you post details of your system i.e motherboard, graphics card etc ?

Also are you using onboard audio from the motherboard ?

Well, the mystery is over. I turned it on this morning before work and and loud pop then dead, opened the case and a little smoke was coming out of the PSU. I hope everything else is ok in there. At least I know where to start. Thank you everyone for your help!
