can anyone sugest me any ways to decrease the time it takes to save the hibernation settings so the stupid blue bar will fill up faster when hibernating xp..lol

i have just recently re-installed windows xp, first from the disk then the install files of both SP2 and SP3. and some programs such as firefox and MSn 4 [14.0.8050.1202] and other assorted programs.

none of these run on startup except my AVG antivirus and none are running when i hibernate

at the moment it takes around 5 minutes to complete hibernation and i do it as a time saving excessive however it dosn't seem to be saving my time at the moment

i have tried most of the windows utilities to fix this, ive ran msconfig and disabled unnecessary services. ive run defrag ive tryed allot and nothing works

suggestions please !!
thanks

the feature runs based off your system. if your running a old slower system it will run slower.

what are the specs of the computer

your system is pretty old that is a huge reason why its lagging.

you also the first i know that used hibernation. msot ppl turn it off and jsut use screen saver or sleep mode.

if you have to use it try to reinstall windows to refresh the system and that will mroethan likely speed up the responce a bit.

ahh ok thanks anyway.

the problem is that i just did re-install windows and now it is taking LONGER than it did b4 i re-installed and it didnt seem to make sence

yeah i use hibernation because you can turn the actual power off.

also my P3 computer i keep in my shed hibernates in around 15 secs. wich also confused me
