my fan kicks on on my Latitude when the temp is 55C, and thats 4 the HD, isnt the fan supposed 2 kick on when the CPU is that high? and not the HD? my CPU is at 32C, dont think that chances, which is weird..

well the labels are changable, so my guess is they are miss named, the one that goes up and down is probably the cpu and the other is probably the hard drive. You can change the labels by going under the settings clicking the one you want to change and hitting F2 i think.

A hard drive usually doesn't get much above room temperature, so that might be your CPU.

I agree, it's highly unlikely that the CPU would be at 32C and the hard drive would be at 55C.

I dont know, my HDD is usually about 20C hotter than my CPU at idle ( never knew why) but that sounds plausible in my situation.

SpeedFan has a "Dell Notebook feature only" as well, might want to enable that if you haven't already.

i've found that on my dell notebook speed fan will read the temps correctly when you check that box for dell notebooks but it still won't control the fans.

I have no idea what it does really lol. It's jsut suppsoed to offer better compatibility with Dell notebooks. Maybe i enables some kind of sensor modification where it would normaly mis-read on Dell's notebooks?

Um, not so in my case. During heavy-duty defrags in the summer, I got HD temps up to 60°C, with CPU temps of 40°C. I have since added a case fan on the side panel and now the highest temps I get on my HDs are only 12°C higher than room ambient!

Click configure, then click on the core temperature. (the CPU) After clicking on it, you will see options down at the bottom. Check "show in tray"
