Speeding up internet?

Well here at my college dorm I get a whopping 156 kiloBITS ps. Thats the maxx I have gotten so far. My life revolves around the internet and I use ventrillo, and get like a 6 second delay. Is there anyway I can speed this up w/o having my school increase the bandwith (with I am gona talk to them about)?

You can speed up internet browsing, but not latency times, download speeds, or gaming latencies. I know they have them out for dial-up, and i think i've seen them out for any internet connection, all they really do is compress the text and photos, so if you want your pages to load faster, i would take a look at www.download.com in the internet utilities section.

But those utilities won't help him at all with Ventrilo.
 
My brother (who's at college) got fed up with his school's bandwidth that he decided to get cable as well. Of course it costs him, but his roomate, who is a heavy gamer, couldn't do without it.
