Speedoptimizer & Restore Windows to earlier date

I use Windows XP and I recently bought the Speedoptimizer program online from Speedbit, the company who supplies Download Accelerator Plus (DAP). Speedoptimizer basically removes all temporary files. After installing and running Speedoptimizer, I had a computer crash and discovered I could not "Restore Windows to an earlier date", a Windows XP function. What I need to know, is whether Speedoptimizer will delete or block files needed to "Restore Windows to an earlier date". I have written to Speedoptimizer Support, twice, but have not received any answer. Could anybody advise me on this matter? I simply want to uninstall Speedoptimizer if it disables the "Restore Windows to an earlier date" date function. I have no intention to claim back money or critisize the Speedoptimizer program.

If you have valid restore points free of any viruses you can manually start up the system restore feature in XP. The program itself doesn't hamper the system restore feature in Windows. If you lack any restore points since it is at the beginning of the month were new ones now have to be created the other option open is the install to repair method ourlined in the article seen at http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

First let's see if you have any restore points available. When first starting the system and seeing the post tests completing you press the F8 key right when Windows is about to start loading to enter the Windows boot menu. This has the last known configuration that worked, safe mode, debug in vga mode, and what you are after there the "safe mode with command prompt only option".

Once you reach the command prompt simply type in
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe just the way you see it there. The MS article with full details is found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304449
