Got me an IBM T32 (2658BMU)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-43011

It's processor is the P4M-1.6 (NorthwoodA, 1.3V) and in BIOS, even when i set everything to battery saving mode and ultra-low performance mode I cant get it to run at either 1.2Ghz ("medium") or whatever the "low" speed is (honestly thats all i wanted to know.. what the low was)

Now this has me asking... what's the purpose of Speedstep if the damn thing don't work! LOL Now i just want to go back to 1.2Ghz so i dont chew up the batteries!

 Video drivers dont have anything to do with Speedstep dude.... to answer your question: any driver under the sun... ive got them all ... doesnt matter which config i use, Speedstep doesnt seem to kick in.

you sure about that because on notebooksforum.com there was someone with the omega drivers and when he switched back it began working again... just trying to help

Yeah thx :) I'll give it another shot but one would think that Speedstep wouldnt care about video driver revisions since, in pre-OS mode, all video cards run off the same basic VGA settings anyways and the video drivers arent yet loaded :)

i guess i'll just be a little more quiet... you are the moderator heh
LOL not at all -- just cuz I'm a mod doesnt mean i know everything -- it means i maintain a degree of objectivity :)

I think i do have XP on that machine but i also encountered the problem with 2K as well .... also, if i've set the CPU to use the slowest possible settings ... it shoudl take longer to boot.... which it isnt .... :S Thx for the link i'll have a look :)
