Splitting and putting together movies?

Hi.

I need a program with witch i can split parts of movies and put together movies.
for example when i have a movie that is cd1 and cd2 i want to put them together so i dont have to pause in the middle of the movie.

I also want to be able to take out sertain parts of movies for example i want to take out some live performances from the VMA but i still want the original file with the entire VMA intact.

Any suggestions ?

I don't know about anything that will do this other then a video editing program, like adobe premier, or Sony vegas.

VirtualDub/VirtualdubMod (freeware) in direct stream processing should work for what you need.
