splitting bandwith ???

hi

i have recently set up a LAN connection in my house so my sister can use the net aswell. problem is iv noticed that my quality on games is getting really poor (bad lag/high pings) is there any way i can limit the amount of bandwith that goes to her computer ??? iv got a 3mb connection and am using a dsl router please help!!!

please help!!! i need some expert advice here as i think shes actually getting more speed than i am and short of pulling her cable out im stuck with what to do!!!!
 
She is probably downlaoding stuff... You could find out what program she is using and block the port so it wont work. You block the port in the router settings.

well what game is it? if its a pc game you may need to open a port. an easier way is to set your ip to static and dmz it

He wants to cut his sisters downloading... So he can play games. His games lag because his sister downloads porn... I mean music.... (legal of coarse)
 
lol ok well if your sure its from her downloading stuff, learn to get along with the hosts file. its real stealth. whenever they go on the site it just says this page cannot be found.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

open this file in notepad.
you will see lines like

127.0.0.1 something.com

for whatever site you want to block just add this on the next line

127.0.0.1 blockedsite.com

use the history tool to see what sites she visits often
 
lol nice 1 im going to have to have aplay around with that!!!

the game im playing is counter strike source (possibly the best game ever)
