Spot an IP (Please help!)

Hi,

Somebody sent me a kind of blackmailing e-mail that concerns a lawsuit goin on. I need to find out if it is possible to spot the computer used by that sender. The account used is probably a makeup one, and I´m sure it was sent from an internet cafe. Any means to spot the computer used? Do internet cafes have different IPs for each computer?

I appreciate your help or any clue you can provide, as it´s a serious trouble.

The best your gong to be able to do is get the ip addy from where it was sent.
That info will just give you the service provider.
With out court orders the ISP will not tell you who had that addy.
If it came from an internet cafe you won't be able to pin it down to an individual computer.

Yeah, that's the way it works. What you should do is take it to the police-like you should have done from the start-instead of trying to take care of it yourself. I mean, what the [bad word goes here] could you do even if you had the location? Take it to the police? That would be reinventing the wheel, if you know what I mean.
