Spot of bother/confusion regarding an invalid partition

Just got partition magic; have an old 128gb Hard drive in two partitions (one is only about 3gb and I am not worried about it) I tried to format the other partition (the bulk of the hard drive, about 125gb) using windows formatting tool but it "could not be completed" so now I want to use partition magic to format it. Only problem is, partition magic shows it as having an "invalid" file allocation system and will not allow me to format it.
It does however give me the option to "delete" it. What would happen then? Would all that space be lost completely? Would it still be there, waiting to be partitioned and used again?
Someone help me please; thanks in advance.

(PS. This is not the hard drive I am currently using, its lying dormant.)
 
I'm not entirely sure. It definitely changed it somehow because before when I tried to access the disk I would get the error message : Cannot read Drive C:\ The drive is corrupt and unreadable or whatever it is.

Then I tried to format it. It was making progress, the green bars were moving, it took about half an hour. But at the end it just said "Windows was not able to format the drive" or something along those lines.

Now when I try to access the drive C it doesn't give me the corrupt message it says "Drive C:\ is not formatted, would you like to format it now?"

And I tried but it failed again.

And that brings me to where I am now. lol. Any sugggestions?
 
Just delete it. When you delete it, it will appear as unformatted space, then you can format it.
