SSD Question

So a buddy of mine is getting rid of his old OCZ SSD its a pretty good drive and I can get it rather cheap to test it out but I had a question before doing so.
Is there a way to make all downloads say from the primary SSD drive with Firefox download to my 500GB drive or do I have to keep draggin/dropping the files?
My biggest issue with SSD is the "max write" which I download 200-300GB a month for multiple things which I could reach that max write rather quickly.

*edit*
Forgot to mention this is the SSD he has.

I can get it for $30-$40 off him.

I believe you can with firefox but not with IE. Whatever download location you pick with firefox will be used for the .part file (or whatever file type FF uses), where as IE writes downloads to a temp directory and copies them over once the download is complete.

in firefox go to tools -> options... -> main -> check save" files to" and click browse and choose a folder on your 500gb drive.

Well I use FF as a example...I am meaning is it a practical idea to run my 500GB as a usage drive and a SSD as a primary?

My biggest worry is waring the drive out to fast....only major downside to the SSD drive it seems.

I don't know that much about SSD's but apparently it's okay, trim is a good tune-up thing to use too.

Load OS, Programs, and Games onto the ssd. Then keep the 500gb for docs, videos, music, etc..

Edit: Just change the Libraries on the Win7 start menu

Right click "Documents" and hit properties. Remove all the libraries and add a new one to a location on the secondary hdd

Ah I see thanks. Going back to Vista with the new drive though....sadly 7 might be faster but it is horrible in just about every other way. I am not a fan of "eye candy" I gave it 3-4 weeks of a test though to be fair.

A lot of the features can't be turned off...you can disable them all or leave them all on which isn't cool imo as I like some and hate others.
Also the layout of the new folders/control panel/toolbar really urk me to no end and is very annoying. I prefer classic options...nothing flashy just straight to the point.

I really love vista's basic look...windows 7 really needs to leave a default look for people like me that prefer the older style vs the new. (not the ugly grey/blue default)

So the best way for me to love 7 is to simply allow me to tweak the OS to look mirror to Vista.

Removal List (personal preference)
Preview Tabs
Library (don't use it and don't want it)
New Folder Layout
New Control Layout
New Toolbar setup
Remove "glowing" on tabs (aka firefox/folders go orange/yellow and are always highlighted in a white hew)
New "idle" programs box (far right where program icons are)
Aero Shake
Aero Snap It

Also I would want my sticky bar.

I don't care if they want to look "new generation" but don't forget the people who liked XP/Vista layouts. I can't even get my grandparents upgrades because 7 would give them migraines.
