I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop computer that runs to slow now. I would like to start over and reinstall everything. The only problem is the cd that cam with the computer doesnt have the option to delete everything and then reinstall it. Not sure what to do, any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

they always have it as far as i know
else get a windows cd somewhere run it till you've removed the partitions and formatted the new ones.
then run the cd that came with the dell

Here are my only options on the cd that came with it.

Install Windows XP
Learn more about the setup process
Install optional windows components
perform additional tasks
check system for compatibility

And here are the options under perform additional tasks

Setup remote desktop connection
Setup a home or small office network
Transfer file and settings
browse this cd
view release notes
install .net framework

I dont think its on there. How do you go about removing partisans and formatting old ones?

do instlal windows.. then l8r on in the installation ull come to a blue screen that shows the current partition ( installation ) on your computer.. delete then create a new one

ok I am up to that point. 5 choices

Format the partition using NTFS file system <quick>
Format the partition using FAT file <quick>
Format the partition using the NTFS file system
Format the partition using the FAT file system
Leave the current file system intact <no changes>

Which one do I want to select?

Thanks for the info. Got Windows reinstalled, one more question though. For some reason the comp cant find my network card, and everything that use to be down by the clock is gone. I figured all the software that came with the comp would have been reinstalled with windows, but apparently not. Any idea how to get my network card working and the stuff back that came with the comp?

Thanks

right click on "my computer" and go to manage. From there go to device manager. you'll see the network card there with a red cross or something. you can install it from there. You do need the cd
else download it from the dell site.
and the software that came with the comp is probably on another cd or on the same cd just browse around in the cd or any other that came with it

Dell had to send me all the drivers, not sure if I just didnt get the cd when I bought the computer or they just dont give them out anymore.

if you bought it directly from Dell they include the reinstallation CD for the network card. Its not on an blue and white disc. IIf its a PCMICIA (or whatever) card then you can just get the number off of the card and search for the drivers on the internet
