Lately, I have been having problems with my Gateway laptop when I try to start it up. Here are some of the issues that I have been having:
1.) When I turn on the laptop, it will either shut down right away, or will turn on but will freezes without going into the Windows boot-up sequence. The fan shuts down and the blinking light which shows that the computer is processing turn off, but the light on the power button stays on.
2.) If it stays on but does not go into boot-up sequence, I would to do a hard boot (hold down the power button to re-start) several times before Windows will start.
3.) Quite often, when the Windows sequence starts, the laptop re-starts several times before Windows completes its sequence.
4.) Every third or fourth time going through it, the internal clock resets, and I would have to reset the date and time.
5.) When the computer is on, it runs fine. Problems only occur at start-up.
Possibly unrelated: At times, I also have issues with the AC adapter. When plugged into the laptop, it will sometimes not charge it. I would have to play with it (like jiggling a key in a keyhole) before it will start charging.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be?
