Start Up Problems

Hi all,

Heres the problem I am experiencing with my Windows Vista system:

Sometimes the computer boots up fine for say a few weeks with no problems,
other times I have to keep restarting the system to get the initial beep which triggers the boot sequence. This seems to happen for a few days / weeks and then goes back to working fine??

Open up your case, where you could see your motherboard, processor, RAM etc. Near your GPU (graphic card) there is a small, round battery (looks like one of those which you put to calculators or watches). You either need to replace it with a new one or just take it out for few minutes and put it back in. Do it with your computer switched off and power cable unplugged!

New batteries can be bough on-line or in computer stores. Although, if you think you need to replace it, take the battery out of computer and give it to someone who works in a computer shop - so that they'll find you the right one.
