Stay with XP or go back to Vista??????

I have a dell dimension E521, it came with vista. I didnt want to take the time to learn it so i put XP Home Edition on it.

My question is Should i go back to using vista? Would it make my computer run better since thats what it came with? Or should i just stick with XP?

XP is less bloated with junk. It requires less resources so if your computer is not the fastest or low on memory, I would go with XP. If you like the looks of vista, then wait for windows 7. It has the same exact feel as vista, but much faster at everything.

I have legal copys of both OS's. So price and waiting does not matter much. My computer has 3 gigs of ram and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+

I'd say stick with XP. Vista is way to slow, and causes gaming to slow down too. I started out on vista on this machine for a week, noticed it was to slow, and switched to Windows XP Pro. And no offence or anything, but your system isn't really that "great."

Vista can be made faster by modding it but that takes time and effort but its up to you XP is great for speed and good for games (32-bit version) id say stick with Vista and mod it but if you want to change with no hassle go with XP =]

Well once I tweaked my Vista I run @ 600mb with all my programs installed and it performs better then XP.

I also like the interface more since I don't have to use programs to change it like I did in XP which were memory blackholes.

So I like Vista more then XP.

XP, I had vista with my new HP comp. within the first 2 weeks it got so slow... it was unbelieveable, when I switched to XP there has been no problems what so ever. But some people prefer Vista some people prefer XP. I am not going to hate on either windows.

i'd say stick with xp. in my opinion, vista is good for computer with multiple cores. i dual boot xp and vista and i notice that programs in vista runs a lot faster than it is in XP.

I have a duel core AMD, so that is what i was asking since i have the duel core and good amount of memory. Should i go with vista?

It really depends on what you are actually using the computer for

I use it for a very wide range of things, I run torrents, create web pages, play games, serious multitasking, lots of media, photo editing. And just testing and playing around with different programs.

your computer will run Vista fine. look at my sig below... i have no issues with Vista. Vista is actually quite good at managing memory. people always talk about how Vista uses a lot of memory... what they don't explain is that the memory is cached but if another application needs it, it's released immediately.

when Vista was first released, i heard it was plagued with problems. i got it about 4 months ago, and have no issues except an occasional application crash, which xp has too.

anyway that's my experiences with it, install it and find out for yourself. you can always reformat again and go back. just make sure your disabling background services, cleaning your registry, and defragging your drive... because that'll make any system slow.
