Steam 'Backup' files

Hai Guys!

My stepbro is here again for the weekend with his Gaming rig.

He hasn't downloaded L4D2 yet as his internet at home isn't too good at the moment..

I've just made a backup file and stuck it over on the network drive that he usually connects to when connecting to the network.

How will steam handle these files on his account?

Is it simply a case of drop and drag to his C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2 demo folder and open up steam, verify the files and play?

I don't really want to have to redownload the 3.6GB...

As long his account is registered a copy of the game it should work. Personally i burn it to a DVD, copy the files from DVD to the computer and then restore it with steam. worked every time so far :)

Yeah he has a legit steam account, and its a free demo so no need to be pay.

& I can't be a$$ed with DVD burning just for that, I have none anyway :P

It's already on the network, if he want's it he can just transfer it to his PC :D

you can put it on an external hard drive or memory stick or anything with large enough storage, it doesn't ahve to be a disc, and if you do it, yes, it should work, but only if you log on with your account I think, even though it is only a demo.
