steam/ hl2 question

my friend has hl2 and steam all installed on his comp and he gave me the cd and stuff and i installed it and tried using his key to register it, obviously it doesnt work. if he uninstalls steam off his computer will i be able to enter the key and it will work. and if it does will it happen instantly or will it take like a week?

to use his key, you will also need to use his steam name.

Nope, his key is stored in the steam database. Get his username and password then you can.
 
Good luck, that game can be pretty frustrating, especially with some of those puzzles, they just plain stump me.... hello game faq's!!! :D

tell me about it, i've tried to beat the game like 20 times, but every time i get to a point, i always need to reinstall windows and i have to start all over again :mad: ...i think i'll just use garry's mod next time :P
 
for some reason im pretty good with the puzzles, i stump myself sometimes when i figure out the puzzles (after 10 minutes of wandering) but its still awesome
 
I did not get stuck in this game at all. It was over pretty quick actualy. I've played through it many times though :).
