Steam on SSD

I have steam installed on my SSD but the games are on my hard drive. Is this really any faster than just keeping the program and games on the hard drive together?

I am considering putting my ssd in my macbook. Can tolerate a longer boot to windows when all I do is play games but dont want to make my games run poorly.

The ssd is a crucial m4 and the hard drive is a Seagate barracuda. Shout be the 7200 rpm model.

I have my actual Steam client installed to my SSD and all my games are on my secondary HDD (same as yours actually). Steam launches nearly instantly and games still launch just as fast as they did when it was all one drive before I had my SSD.

Thanks for the quick replies. Glad to hear it will run the same. Time to back everything up and reinstall windows onto the hard drive.

Yeah. I use the Mac for school and it shows a bit of age. Would also like to use it for photos. If I can get a little more into it could use the speed for editing and such.

Can agree with the others. I have steam on my SSD with games split between two, 2TB WD greens (5,400 RPM) and everything seems to load more quickly as they done on my older Seagate 7,200RPM 750GB HDD.
