Right, as some of you might know, Steam is giving away HL2 DM for nVidia users, so I thought I'd see if I could DL it... I started, got right to the end of "preparing files for install"... Not once did it mention Downloading?

I did however notice that about 2-3GB of my HDD space went, where does it download the file to? Because my internet cut off and Steam stopped responding, so I don't really know what's happened, other than me losing some HDD space!

Steam makes a Game cache file with the file extension GCF. What it dies is it preserves space for you downloading it. If you don't have half life two then 2-3 Gigs sounds about right. It's located in your steamapps folder which is in your steam folder. There should be a couple of things there like source sounds and such. These files are for the source engine and every source game needs them. Just restart steam and you should be fine.

Have fun hurling toilets at people!:P

HL2 DM is an option already seen for HL2 just like the Lost Coast where you choose whether or not to install it. But you meed the HL2 disk to see hot that works without the promotion now seen by NVidia.

New ATI models see the option for installing the Steam offers for ordering games online. No thanks! I'll stick with the game disks where I can choose what to install.
