"stop error" when trying to install windows

hi. i have an acer aspire one eeepc. when i got the computer it came with a really bad copy of windows, so i used usb multiboot 10 to create a boot thumb drive. i installed windows xp just fine, its been running good for 6 months. i just recently started having some problems with it. its randomly hanging, settings go default, and i started getting a files needed box popping up on just after startup ('the file JMICRON DRIVER DISKETTE is needed) that wont go away... no matter how many times i hit 'ok' or 'cancel', i searched for the file but came up empty. my keyboard is also not as responsive as it used to be, if i type fast it wont recognize half the inputs. just typing this has taken me twice as long as it should.

on to to next issue. i tried re-installed windows today and came across a stop error right after the loading files part and right before windows text install. the stop error is '0x0000007b (0xf7af663c, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)'. i searched into it a little and decided to do a boot sector scan with avg and it came up with nothing. is there a way to reformat the hdd in xp? (or in this actual computer)... because i tried to tear this thing apart to change out the noisy ass fan and it is nearly inpossible to get to anything, especially the hdd. i think reformatting would easy my pains.

thanks guys.

edit: oh, its an acer aspire one 150 with the 150 (or whatever) gig hdd and a gig of ram... if that helps.

One of the first options when you start installing Widnows XP allows you to create or format partitions. Same screen where you select which partition to install Windows too. I almost wonder if you have some hardware issue not just software. If deleting and recreating the partition doesn't fix the issue then should take it to a trusted local non-big box repair shop for proffesional service.
