Stop Sign Anti-Virus... A virus?

I heard from someone at school today that the so called "Stop Sign Anti-Virus" actually downloads virus' on your computer for it to "detect." I'm just wondering if this rumor is true, I couldn't find any information on it though......

I did, a tiny bit of research and I found this: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=54249&messageID=726744 it looks like it isn't really malware, but doesn't do a very good job, from my personal experience I would reccomend a good adware sweeper like ad-aware, a good spyware sweeper like spybot, and a good antivirus like avast! or AVG.
