stopping videos from autoplay

In the past few weeks, there's been a few websites I've been to where a video with audio will automatically start playing (not porn sites). One was an IT website and some guy or girl will start talking in a video (not a pop-up window) on the same page as the article, soon after the page finishes loading. The other website was I think AskMen.com.

I use AdBlock Plus (not on here though ) and that doesn't do anything for it. I had pop-up windows blocked in Firefox, but I am exclusively using Chrome now.

All I remember about first site is that it has a drawing of a guy that kind of looks like a "Where's Waldo?" character and the video itself is fairly small in comparison to the article on the same page.

Just wondering how I can stop these videos from automatically starting? Or maybe it's impossible to control that?

Thanks, John :)

Typed in chrome://chrome/settings/content

Lot of stuff in there besides just plugins that I didn't even realize I had control over. I guess I just assumed that's what add-ons were for in Firefox and what extensions were for in Chrome
