Stored Network Profiles- Next to DNS Name?

Hi guys,

one question I've never managed to get to the bottom of.

I regularly mess about with changing domain's, dns and DHCP ips on my internal network, every time i do so the network reconnects fine etc (ie i get a DHCP response, get an IP, DNS name resolves to domain to "goldtrail.local"- my windows domain name). However its almost like Windows stores "network profiles" as every time i make a change it will show "goldtrail.local 2" or "goldtrail.local 4".

Very poorly explained- probably one of the reasons why I can't Google it, simply because its difficult to Google when you have no idea how to phrase the search term!

Its almost like there's a hidden "manage wired networks" in the same way that there is for wireless networks under network and sharing center.

Here is a link to a screenshot just to give a visual representation:

thanks

I think it is remembered in the registry.

Try a registry search for goldtail.local and see if you get any network related entries.
