stored spaces

hi, i didnt know anywhere else to post this, so i post the thread here.

i realise that everytime i archived a file in a zip folder, it seemed to occupy alot of space. now i hardly have any space left in my disk due to that. do they copy the file somewhere in your disk prior to archiving them in the compressed folder which explains the invisible disk usage? how do i clear them back? anywhere to purge the stored files?

when i zipped, it stopped halfway saying full disk, prior to that, there are lots of disk space on my drive...its odd how it eats up the space and i havent the clue how it did....plus im computer illiterate.

if ure trying to save space, then after u zip it make sure u remove the original files. i know u prolly already did this, but just trying to cover all the bases ;)

i would definalty get an external hdd for backup, or even build a file server. its easier then it sounds. oh, but dont trust any data to a maxtor!
