Straight or Cross Cable?

Hi, I wanted to connect my hub to a router. What cable should I use? straight or cross UTP cable? another thing, Is the "hub" also called a "switch"? tnx.

If you want to connect to hub, use straight cable. Cross cable usually used to connect between two computer directly without connect to hub. Hub is similar to switch I think.

Patch cables connect disimilor devices. (hub to desktop, router to switch)
Cross over cables connect similor devices (2 switches, 2 computers, 2 hubs)
