Strange Error Disallowing Access to Server

I have recently built a test server out of some old computer parts knocking about (see D845GVSR in my Sig), but I have installed 2K3 Standard R2, and I have set up file server (as I have another server that runs the same os, and it is set up and works, and I have configured this one the same.) but when I try to log on to this server from another machine by going into network and opening the computer name, or by typing in \\192.168.1.12\ - which is the IP Address - from the start menu, it gives me an error, and I get the same on ANY machine that I try this on.

I type in Administrator - which is the Username, and leave the password blank, as I have tried a password and it doesn't make any difference so I have removed it. I click OK and I get this:

This gives me this error on any computer which I try to access it from. Any username on the server which I use, whether the username has a password or not.

I have put Windows 2000 Server on it, and I get the EXACT SAME ERROR. I have just put 2003 back on, and it still doesn't work.

I have set a different server up exactly like this and it works, so what could be the problem, is it a hardware issue?

I have now checked everything from Policies, to hardware, and can not find the problem...help will be appreciated greatly.
 
By default windows tries to authenticate to another windows device using the guest account. What you want to do is make sure that you have both your sharing and security permissions setup to allow Everyone to do everything. Meaning all of the little boxes are checked for the everyone user. From there you will want to open up your user management. Right click my computer and select manage. From there you should be able to find the local users list. Make sure that the guest account is enabled rather than disabled. This should hopefully resolve your issues. Server 2003 and xp seem to have guest account enabled sometimes and other times disabled for no rhyme or reason.

This is trying to log on as an administrator. It allows remote access but not to shares.
 
Thread closed... turns out you were right, the only problem is that everyones access is through guest, which needs full permissions to everything, but whatever, I just need a simple file server, it wont have anything sensitive on it, so I can live with it.
 
Yeah the only other thing would be to clear out any saved credentials on the client computers and authenticate again using a user account that you have setup under both the share and security settings.
