Strange goings-on in the land of my computer

So, today, I went to start up WinAmp, but instead of starting up, it just said "winamp had encountered a problem and needs to close". I restarted, and still the same problem. I uninstalled, downloaded, and reinstalled, and still the same problem. Now, it's doing the same thing with F.E.A.R. Any ideas? I'm virus and spyware free, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I would schedule a chkdsk /r to run next time you boot the computer. Just go to run, type cmd, then type chkdsk /r it will ask if you want to schedule one next reboot, say yes then reboot

Sounds like some sort of corruption, have you recently added any third party parts to your computer?

No third party parts, but I did just install a program (called powerstrip) to adjust brightness levels on the fly in CS...I installed it and now WinAmp is working but I'm encoding a DVD do i have to wait to try FEAR. If that doesn't work, I'll try your suggestion. Thanks!
