I recently reinstalled Windows XP for a friend, and now the computer will randomly crash every so often, or Explorer will have an error and cause it to restart XP without shutting the computer off.
A little background, this PC used to be mine back in the day and I never had a single problem with it, it also ran just fine for my friend for the entire duration she had it, same hardware, same drivers and everything that I reinstalled on it.
She gave her PC to her mom, so I decided to just reinstall XP to start over with a good clean slate.
So far I cant attribute the crashing to anything at all, it doesnt coincide with anything, its just completely random.
It does have an added on sound card and video card, but both are using the same drivers they used for a long time with no problems.
What about the formatting style I chose? I did something a little different and chose to quick format with NTFS instead of full format because I was somewhat pressed for time.
If they keep having problems with it im going to reinstall it again using a full format, but that wont help if its driver related.
Any other ideas? Currently the onboard audio is disabled via BIOS settings, and the onboard video is an unknown device and is also disabled through device manager, because there is no setting to disable it in BIOS.
This one really has me stumped, as well as pissed off. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
