Streaming local radio

This is a very specific and unique question. There is a local radio station I listen to a lot that broadcasts on FM, but they do not have a website or any kind of stream at all. I stream music a lot on my phone at school and I really want to listen to this one station though.

Is there a way I can use a RTL-SDR to tune into this station onto my PC, then take the audio its receiving broadcast it online to a private link only I can access, and I can play it as a streaming MP4 or m4u in Safari on my iPhone?

USB FM receiver and then use some application to stream it to the internet.

If your smartphone doesn't already have a built in FM tuner, try this:

You can use VB Audio Virtual cable to send the SDR audio to Shoutcast or a Teamspeak server. You would have to forward a port. I would use a non standard port and stay below 10,000 as I have found with my Teamspeak server that cell access towers don't like ports any higher for some reason. Yes, there is a Teamspeak App. I have never used Shoutcast and that's on the bucket list to try one day in the not so distant future.

To save on CPU cycles, just feed a regular FM radio into the line input on the Comp.

I can't post a link to my blog since this site censors it, but I have a post on how to change Teamspeak ports in the TS server. PM me if interested.

Have you tuned this station on the SDR already? You need a high bandwidth to get WFM. I use 192000 in HDSDR with a Nooelec.

For whatever retarded reason my phone doesn't have an FM tuner! People at apple be like "Let's put a FM tuner in a crappy little $150 8GB iPod nano!" "FM tuner in a $800 iphone 6S? nah!"

To be fair, most US phones these days don't include it, even though they are capable. Probably to get you to spend more on higher priced storage options and to use more data.

Adding onto that, why the hell doesn't the iPhone have an microSD card slot?! It's a PITA to transfer photos off the thing because it shows up on my PC as a "portable device" and I have to use the crappy import tool which gets only half the pictures most of the time.

That's what iCloud and Dropbox are for

Because having to manage external vs internal storage is not intuitive. You may have a 128GB MicroSD card, but since apps can't be installed there you may not be able to install them if your internal is full, and with no file manager it's even worse to manage. Plus, it's much slower and less reliable than internal flash.

I have on my forum a link to enable FM radio in some phones. Not sure about iPhone.

I use my own FTP server hosted on a Dell netbook that's on 24/7 to transfer files between my phone and computers with WinSCP. It's nice to be able to be anywhere with an Internet connection and save photos from say Facebook to my FTP server and then jump on my Comp, log into the FTP and save them to my Comp.

If I were to use the Cloud in this fashion I would look into Boxcrypter. I do use three cloud providers for my website backups and I'm thinking about getting a Dreamobjects account for my junk and see about migrating attachments from my forum to Dreamobjects. But I need someone to code an extension in phpBB to utilize this with the Dreamobjects API key. It can be done in WordPress.

FTP? What is this, 1998? :p

Other than the fact it's used for websites and you can use a FTP server with FossCam now called Amcrest. Besides that SFTP can be used with a Linux box mounted Amazon S3 bucket or you can use another FTP propitiatory client to access Dreamobjects.

I use implicit encryption BTW.

Edit- I use WinSCP to also manage my game server files.
