stuck at cmos setup utility

my computer only boots to cmos setup utility i found it like this, this morning i've tried everything from making sure my hdd boots first and tried putting in the vista cd to see if it reads that and no it always goes back to cmos setup utility. i swapped hdd's with another computer with a known working os and still the same problem. can someone help me?

I'm a little confused here. So it actually enters the CMOS setup? That just seems weird it'd go there without a reason. I have seen some machines doing something similar when the power went out or the CPU was overclocked incorrectly (it brought you to an overclock config screen)

If it's going to the actual CMOS screen as if you pressed the key to enter it, I'd first try to reset the CMOS using the motherboard jumper. If it still won't work, perhaps try another keyboard. You may also consider trying other hardware changes (single stick of RAM, removing optical drives, etc). Try to eliminate any causes...

it ended up being that a few of my keys on my keyboard were stuck and thats why it went to cmos setup

Hah, good thing to know for future reference. Odd though, you normally get some kind of keyboard error
