Stuck CPU temp censor?

So I've recently moved back in with my mum. In a colder climate (it's also winter here) and my CPU temp is still apparently 37c on both cores. I've felt the cooler and it's as cold as ice! The ambient temp here is about 15c, so i doubt the cpu is getting that hot.

In this exact climate, 1 year ago, running the exact same overclock, the temp was 22c for both cores on idle.

Is there anyway to test for a stuck sensor? I have prime95, fired it up and watched the temps slowly rise for about 10 mins, and as soon as i stopped both workers the temps instantly went back to 37c.

I have realtemp, that has an option for a sensor test. what does this do exactly? I'm not sure how to use it.

In the mean time I'll reboot and check what the BIOS says for temps.

EDIT: All my other components are running cooler. Checked the BIOS and it says CPU is 24c, does that mean that every single temp program is wrong? they all report 37c

bump. still reporting 37c.

I had a thought: Once i overclock past the ~4ghz mark. In the BIOS, once i hit that magic number and hit f10 to save, on the reboot it says "ROMSIP Table Updating" could this be doing anything to the temp sensor? I'll try going stock settings later on and see what happens.

I believe the ROMSIP table is something that contains FSB speeds or something. not sure.

Save your overclock settings, then revert to stock settings.

Run your system and check with a few different monitoring programs and see if they are lower temperatures. If they seem about the same, run prime 95 and if the temps don't raise, you can say pretty firmly either the sensor is broke, or the monitoring programs aren't gettings your actual temperatures properly

The temps raise all right, but then as soon as i stop testing it's instantly back to 37c which isn't right. every program reports 37c. The Bios reports the correct temp of about 20-24c

See if there is a BIOS update for your board. This is similar issue I had with my motherboard till I updated.
