Stupid Idea - Chromium XP

Would it be possible to use windows xp, download chromium or google chrome, and then alter the value in regedit.exe so that you could just run google chrome in XP, if you had no need for an interface or whatever?

Are you asking if you can make it to where it just boots up Chrome, and ditches the window manager?
I highly doubt it. But you could try Chromium OS and see if it would do the job. It is basically a web one OS (what comes on the cchromebooks after all).

It could be done much easier with a debian based linux however. Just download chrome, set it as a boot program, remove the window manager from the system, and you are left with a close approximation of what you are after, just CLI and chrome.

Yeah I did think that but the D845GVSR board which I wanna use has no linux support for ethernet or anything so it would be pointless.

I mean in regedit, you can find an option to change the shell from explorer.exe, well, if I shortcutted chrome into there, and changed the value from explorer.exe to chrome.ink then it should open chrome on log on.

I want to investigate it more but I cant until saturday, and to avoid wasting hours of my time putting the board and pc back together as I dismantled it as I had a better one which has now died; I though I would post here

Yes if you use a LXDE or a xfce desktop. Could try gnome but it would run poorly on 512 and kde is out of the ques

If I were you I'd also familiarise myself with the End User Agreement for Windows XP.
