Hi everyone!

I have a USB mouse, Thompson Multimedia made for hp and every 30 / 40 minutes it just stops working, so i have to unplug and reconnect it then its fine for a while. Well sometimes its every 30 / 40 minutes sometimes more / less.

Its really starting to p**s me off...any ideas

(oh the mouse driver is just the default one with windows xp pro, i cant find a driver online for it)

There might be something wrong with your USB Port. I had the same problem with my computer a while ago and came to figure out that the USB port was bad.
Try plugging the mouse into Diffrent USB port and see if it reslove the issue.

I have tried all 6 usb ports, the four around the back and the two on the front. Thing is all the rear usb ports are being used. I have:
iomega zip drive
motorola a1000 caddy
usb mouse
usb adsl modem

and sometimes i have a usb hhd in the front one

could all my usb devices be taking too much power?
sometimes my internet just kicks me off, never thought anything of it before but now thinking the usb might be doing the same thing it does with my mouse

(oh and i tried the mouse in the front usb and it was v.v.v. jerky, dont think its fast enough for the mouse)

No, All the USB port in your motherboard are meant to be used. So it doesn't matter if you are using all the USB Ports, it should work fine.

Other thing I can think of that your USB controller hardware file might be corrupted. Try below directions and that should reinstall the USB controllers and may resolve your issue. If it doesn't then I would try to get a different mouse and see if that works well for you..

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and click Control Panel, and then click Performance and Maintenance.
2. Click System, and then click the Hardware tab.
3. Click the Device Manager button.
4. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
6. Restart the computer, and then computer should automatically reinstall the USB controllers.
7. Plug in the removable USB device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps... Good Luck...:D

right then i have removed and reinstalled the usb controllers and changed mice
first to a wireless usb mouse then to a wired usb mouse still same thing.

The only way i can get round it is to use a usb / ps2 adaptor but i havent got one (i borrowed a mates just to check) i have just tried the mouse on a laptop and it works fine...help please!!

Go get a mircosoft laser mouse its very good. I had no problems with it, my mouse that I had been 4 yrs old. :)
