Stupid question-HDD and mobo

I'm getting an Intel DG965WH mobo

It says it supports SATA IDE..... so can i use a SATA 3.0GB/s HDD? since the hdd 101 says it uses the same connectors, i was curious.....

it didn't say whether it is a sata150 port or 300. either one will work but if it is 150 and you have sata300 drive you'll run at the 150 speed.

The ICH8 uses SATA300

But kof2000 is right, you can mix and match sata speeds, it will simply run at the slower speed.
