suggest a solution

I on a regular basis scan reciepts in to the system. Although the task isn't difficult or too long: I was wondering if there is an easier way of doing this? Firstly I will detail the sequence of events to achieve my goal

  1. put reciept in scanner
  2. go to start
  3. paint
  4. file>from scanner or camera
  5. press scan
  6. click save
  7. go to my docs
  8. make new folder
  9. name folder
  10. name reciept
  11. save as jpg

Is it anyway possible to cut out steps 2-8 and program the system/software to do this for me? Im sorry if I don't make sense

As far as scanning is concerned, if you are using Windows, you can use the scanner and camera wizard, instead of opening paint, I believe from there you can give the image a file name and specify it's output location.

I know it's not exactly what you are asking for, but it's a step in the right direction. Though, don't quote me. I'm going off old memory.
 
well atleast thats a start. The think is that my father has to operate the system as well and I simply cannot teach him. He is of the older generation who look at computers and get scared as if the damn thing has razor sharp teeth!

Anyway you are saying that you father cannot learn how to create new folder???That is just 2 simple clicks...wow.
Anyway you can create him a simple batch script that will create a new folder called "SCANNER DATA" in MY DOCUMENTS and then automatically open paint and then give him a message what to do next.Write this into NOTEPAD and save it as "THE SIMPLEST.BAT" (or however you want lol:D):

MKDIR "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserAccountName\My Documents\SCANNER DATA"
START MSPAINT.EXE
MSG * "In order to continue,please do the following: Click FILE and then click FROM SCANNER OR CAMERA.After that press SCAN and after scanning is finished click SAVE,name the reciept and then save it as JPG to a folder called SCANNER DATA which is located in MY DOCUMENTS."

Your father does not need to close this message immediately after he reads it.He can leave it on and continue doing his work so that the message can be a small reminder on what he needs to do next as long as he is not finished.Once he has finished doing what he was doing,he can close the message by of course clicking the OK button.

Note: In the first line replace "YourUserAccountName" with the user name he is using.If you are not using Windows XP then be sure to write the correct location for MY DOCUMENTS because the one I gave you is for Windows XP.

I could make this even more simple by making small program in VS that would do EVERYTHING automatically,but it would take me a day or two.And not for free of course lol :D
But the solution I gave you above is very simple for anyone.

Oh well, thanks for the info. I shall try this and see what the response is from my father.

And at one point my father thought the system had hereditory kung fu skills. He thought pressing the wrong keys would produce a jackie chan style round house kick! He used to have his mates at hand incase something went down!!!!!

I gave him simple free solution above.It's up to him to decide wether he will use it or not.

Are you actually listening to what I said? I never cared about your free answer, all I said is saying that you want to get paid for a better help from you is against the spirit of CF. Nothing more, nothing less.

And basically you're asking me to stop paying attention to what you write... wait what? It's like "don't mind me I'm not worth it..."

NOBODY (me,you and everyone else) on this world would not be making huge applications for everyone for free lol.
And I never asked anyone on this forum to pay me for anything.
I just said that there are much better solutions but "not for free" and you made a huge drama of those 3 words I wrote...Jesus...

I could also tell him: "There is better OS such as Windows 8,but not for free."
