I have an ati 1650x which has 1650x1080 res
Philllips HDTV which was 1920x1080 res

The computer bootscreen loads, then says unsupported video format. Can I fix this or do i NEED a compatible card. If so, please suggest the bare minumum card that will be compatible witht this tv, and support dx10. I have a few games and want to see what dx10 is about, ive been playing on low settings. Also, can my monitor limit my gaming experience?

That card can support that resolution. You have drivers installed? If you want a DX10 card, the budget 8800gs is great. Monitor limit gaming experience? It depends on what you mean by that.

Someone who has more exp. with HTPC's might have more/better solutions.

thanks for the help, i dont want to spend more money than i have to, and dont want to spend money for an insufficeint product. I guess its my monitor resolution is 1650x1080, not the max video card. But still, why cant i get a picture on my tv? I get the boot scree, then it says incompatible video format?

okay your right, it supports 1900 res, but how can i adjust it because the screen is black. and my pc monior is only 1650 res max, so i cant adjust it before hand and brind my pc to the tv

If you can see post, and get far enough to boot into safe mode (hit the f8 key a couple times before boot), it should display fine and allow you to mess around with the resolution/refresh rates. (make sure the refresh rate is set correctly for the Tv)

I'm assuming that's a CRT as 1920 x 1080 is a 16:9 AR. You can try all sorts of resolutions to see which one sticks, and the lower the resolution usually means you can push the refresh rate higher. And remember, CRTs don't have a native rez like LCDs, you can bring the rez down and it'll still look good.

I get picture on my other hard drive with linux installed on it, but no audio. If i connect dvi to hdmi, does that handle audio, or do i need extra wires. Its a LCD tv. I wll take those suggestions, I hope it works. THank you
