Suggestion for New Laptop?

I currently have a 2011 Macbook Air, which I loved when I bought. However, have had a slurry of problems after recently upgrading to OS X Mavericks.

I'm in the market for a new laptop. Was originally thinking of the 13" Macbook Pro Retina, but since I've been having problems w/ Mavericks, I'm contemplating moving away from Apple.

Anyone have suggestions for a ~13-inch laptop? Looking for 8-16 GBs of RAM, 256 GB SSD, and 6+ hrs battery life.

I take my laptop everywhere, so the more portable the better. Under 4 lbs is pretty much a minimum requirement - under 3 lbs would be amazing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am not surprised to hear problems with Maverick but what are the direct issues you are having.
 
What kind of money are you wanting to spend?

You can configure the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon with everything you want - it's 14" and only weighs 1.28kg (2.3lbs). I just bought a ThinkPad L540 and I'm happy with it but there's no getting away from the fact that the X1 Carbon is expensive (but then again, all ultrabooks with the specs you're looking at will be): http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/x1-carbon/ (if you're in Jeresey you can also get it from Lenovo's UK site and I can tell you it took Lenovo about 2 weeks to build and ship my system to the UK).

You could also have a look at the Dell XPS line, but I could only find an 11.6" model on their UK site. Not sure what's happened to their 13" models.
