Suggestions for a new video card for my system

Hi there,

In 2011 I bought a Dell XPS 8300. It has a Intel i7-2600 processor @ 3.4 GHz, 8GBs of ram, and for a video card it has a Radeon HD6670.

The machine is still under warranty; however the graphics card has become outdated and it is starting to run hot. Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about the "inner workings" of computers but I was just going to order a new card online and have a local business install the card for me.

I don't need a super card; but I do want something better than what I have. I was hoping to spend around 100-150 but I would spend up to $200 if it makes that much difference in quality.

I am unsure of what kind of powersupply I have; so would I need to check into this before getting a new card? Would a new card eat more power? I just seem to remember having some kind of power supply issue when I first got the computer.

Sorry if these questions seem silly; but like I said I am no expert!

Yes, we would need to know what make and model number of power supply is in the system. Installing a video card is pretty simple and having to pay someone to do it is not needed.

Open the side of the case and there should be a model number stamped on the side of power supply or on a sticker.

I believe it is a 460 watt power supply. The location of the sticker is in a funny place.

I also checked the specs of my system (It's one of those pre-assembled jobs) and it appears to match.
