Suggestions for Building a PC

So I've recently decided I am going to invest in building my own PC(heading off to college). My funds currently sit around the $600 mark and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what I should get. I am pretty inexperienced in this field so if you could give me a set up with all the hardware (i.e cpu, motherboard, video card etc.) I would greatly appreciate it! Oh..and I am looking for this to be more on the gaming side. Thanks for your input!

NewEgg is obviously your best bet for low cost quality parts. *thumbs up*

You can get a dual core proc from intel for under $100 and mobos for $40-100... About a 1gb of ram will run about $50-60. Then ofcourse drives, PSU etc... So a decent machine can get running for under $300 (with onboard video)

For the video card, GeForce 8600GTS is a nice card and runs about $200.

I don't have time to research specific parts, but check out newegg and read some reviews.
