Suggestions for laptop with these specs

Greetings ladies and gentlemen, I'm graduating from highschcool this year and going for IT , I also love developing games(3D animation and render, computer programming)
I'm on a 1000$ budget and looking for a laptop that can handle daily tasks plus the tasks that an IT student requires

CPU i7 quadcore if possible with minimum 8GB RAM
I don't mind a small harddrive(100GB is enough) plus a small SSD for boot
And a 4h+ battery life
A windows OS that can run linux
I don't care if it's a little heavy but a compact build is appreciated of course

And I'd really appreciate it if you give a little description on the build quality and durability since I'm having it for at least 3years

Thank you for your time, looking forward for your replies

It sounds like you already know what you're looking for, anything preventing you from going to the shop to feel out some models specifically?

consider ASUS

Yeah you sound like you know what you want. Build quality is something you'll really have to see in person. Most if not all companies have tough and sturdy machines as well as cheap and flimsy ones. Getting your hands on one or at least seeing a good video review will help with that. Longevity will be down to how well you take care of the machine as much as anything else. My laptop is carried around with me daily in a backpack but still runs as well as it did when I got it pretty much about a year ago. Take care of it and any machine will last you many years, assuming it doesn't have an inherently poor design in terms of cooling or something like that.

The Lenovo Y50 would be ideal for you! http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50/

Not the smallest laptop and have a look at ultrabooks too but if you want a quad-core i7 as opposed to a dual-core one then weight is the price you have to pay I'm afraid.

The base model has everything you want and even an GTX 860M discrete GPU.

I can vouch for Lenovo build quality being a ThinkPad owner - the build quality is very very good. :good:

Have a look at Dell too or maybe HP's business models.

I had zero doubt in my mind that if you saw this thread you'd be all over them Lenovos. :D Looks like a solid choice.

They're very good value for money. Dell and HP might also have something good to offer but I like the Lenovos. ;)

For me when it comes to laptops it's Lenovo or Dell.

If you wanted something smaller and lighter for your needs I'd suggest looking at an i7 Surface Pro 3 but it will only be a dual-core and not a quad-core and it would be more expensive than a Y50.
