Im trying to put something together for grandparents, it can be a little under/over $400, i need XP SP2 because it will be most "simple". And maybe a Centurion 5, they need it for internet and pictures. And a 5 year old that will play obviously non-graphic intensive games, so a cheap vid card... intel or amd, i dont care..

I need help, i have a hard time putting computers together under $600 :P

Atx Mid-Case
5200+ AMD X2 Dual-Core
2Gb DDR2 Ram

Fresh Copy of Windows XP Pro SP2 loaded.

Letme know if you're interested. It's alittle under two months old. Toss me a PM.

lol nah, asks you to log in.

ill give this some thought a little later on. i have just spent a while figuring out a $500 build.

this will be even harder lol.

ill look around in an hour or 2

lol i like the first one, i was about to make suggestions as to the cpu and gpu, but then i remembered who is was for.

im a big supporter of the p35 mobo, but is it necessary in this situation?

are you planning to overclock your grandparents computer? lol

i reckon you could get a slightly cheaper gigabyte mobo such as:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128058

that one should do in my opinion.

oh and the 7600 GT would like a minimum 350 watt PSU

i reckon you should go with 1 gig of ram...

and downgrade the hard drive too.

unless you think that they will use that much, 160 gb should do.

also, just out of interest, why are you getting media centre?

is it cheap?

Well... if they do basic there's always Windows Vista Basic Upgrade versions on ebay going for $50 buy it not. Good and cheap :)

Yeah, he might go with the first one. I should do XP Home instead, and maybe a cheap card reader or something, a little better PSU. For the price of 2gb, i think its worth it?
