suggestions on memory and grapics cards?

i just bought a emachine 3304 with AMD Sempron™ 3300+ Processor (64-bit)
(128KB L2 cache, 2GHz, 1600MHz System Bus) 100gb hard drive.memory-256MB DDR (1 × 256MB), 400MHz (PC3200)
Expandable to 2GB
Video card-
NVIDIA® GeForce® 6100 GPU
up to 128MB of shared video memory
PCI-Express (PCI-E x16) slot available

i am currently playing halo and serious sam 2 on this system both games play fairly well although serious sam isnt running on max graphics. so i was just curious when i do decide to upgrade how big of memory i should get and wat graphics card also perferably reasonable prices to, thanks for the help
 
Wow... how do you play SS2 on that rig? It even lags on my rig sometimes (although I'm running it maxed out).

A budget would help picking out new parts.
 
ya game actually runs fairly smooth i think ive only had it lag once or twice since ive been playin it oh and also along with your suggestions are these easy things to change?

it atomatically set the game to the type of video card i had its pretty low not the lowest but the next one up , game plays pretty good on there and graphics are to shabby either

Yes, the gs and gt are both great cards. I'd go with the GS, as it offers similar performance for significantly less money.
