Just wondered if this ram would be suitable for my mobo and what i plan on using it for?

RAM

Mobo

I plan on using the pc mainly for the internet but for the odd game, would this set be suitable for the board?

Thanks
Mike

2 gbs is a bit extreme to me for just surfing around the net...i mean im a hardcore gamer and i don't even have 2 gigs but i get by just fine

the only reason i was looking at 2gig is i dont upgrade for years (i've had the pc im using now for about 6 years) and i thought if i went for more it should last me that bit longer.

What i wanted to know was will it be the correct type for the board im using and also are the latencies of 2-3-3-6 suitable, as ive seen they do a set with 3-3-3-8, i wondered which is the better of the two 2 go for, as i dont really understand it?

Thanks
Mike

Wait, you're sticking 2 gigs of ram onto a 6 year old system!?

Definitely not suitable for a computer to surf the web and play the odd game.1 gb of ram should be plenty...and maybe you should think about a new computer..or upgrading your motherboard atleast..

if you look at my original post, i am building a new computer, with the motherboard mentioned and an X2 4200+ Chip.

What i meant was, i dont tend to upgrade for years, not the computer is 6 years old.:P

Can anyone recommend a good 1gig setup then?

Thanks
Mike

I would say the 2 may be a little much buuuut if you are not wanting to upgrade for a while go with the 2 gigs and you wont regret it in the long run. If you buy just the 1 and they keep making programs and such for the net that are more and more taxing then you might regret it man.

thanks codeman0013, thats what i was thinking.

More what i was asking about is the cas latencies i mentioned, i wondered which one is more suitable (2-3-3-6 or 3-3-3-8)?

Thanks
Mike
