yes it's a random name. Sorry for double posting this but i can't seem to figure out how to change the name of an entire thread...

Ok,well i decided to document the making of my suitcase computer, thanks supernova for the idea. I will be taking pictures step by step and writing down what i did.

Day 1: Ok, I got one of my friends to help me with this. He has some computer knowledge and pill also help me with the putting together process.

Here are some pictures of the basic peices I have ready to go.

i don't like that suitcase, i figure that if your going to put all this work into it then why not just go out and buy a new UN scratched suitcase

lol, i thought of that too, but then i realize the whole point of this project it to spend the least amount of money to produce something.

Day 2

Dimensions:

PSU: 6'' wide, 5.5'' long
MB: 12'' wide, 7.75''long
Case: 18'' Width 24'', Wide, 3.75'' deep

After looking at the dimensions and actually laying out the parts. i decided to change things around a bit. Currently I am trying to get all the weight to the bottem of the case.

New case bottem layout:

You're welcome :D

I actually removed my PSU from it's metal case. Be careful if you do this. Even the fins will shock you.

heh, its a very cool looking suitcase, you could probably buff and sand out the scratches though lol

I got mine for $5 on ebay.

Nothing is attached directly to it. There is a thin peace of paneling on the bottom that everything mounts to. It is held in by 4 bolts. The monitor is held up by a thin peace of plywood held in by 4 bolts. That way there aren't a whole bunch of screws stuck through the suitcase. Maybe once it's done I'll do a thread covering the entire design.

heh..i think i'll just stick the entire psu into the case and use wooden screws to puncture the bottem and screw it onto the plywood.

Your only problem with that is you may puncture the board in the PSU and that would not be pretty!

I must have massacered at least 3 PSU's before I was done :)

oh shittt...i would have to be like extra extra careful then. Might even have to take the psu apart to measure how much room i have. Or i can just bolt the psu down on the side with the space for bolting...but that's only on one side and psu would be a little unstable.

If i could make a suggestion...I'd advise taking advantage of the screw sockets on the sides of all the drives and the PSU, i'd go to like home depot or lowes and find the proper size 'L' brackets then secure them to the sides of the drives the same way you'd secure a drive inside of a ATX Case. Then you can easily use nuts and bolts to secure the drives straight through the bottom of the suitcase...but thats just my suggestion...
