Super confused, need help! Monitors not responding.

Hiya folks, new here and need some help if at all possible.

I've just bought a 2nd hand desktop to see me through after my old one died and am having massive difficulties with my monitors. I have 3, and only my oldest one (which is also the worst, really dark, 12 years(ish) old, smallest screen) will boot up when my computer does.

The other 2, one of which I want to use but to be honest both are better, will display the screen when it starts to boot with the pc details etc., then go to the "Microsoft Corporation" bit where it has the loading panel bit, and then before hitting my desktop goes "No Signal" on the one I want to use, and "Power save" on the other, and can't be brought back on! Really frustrating to say the least!

However, if I boot up with the rubbish one that works, and then unplug it, detach the svga/vga socket, plug in one of the other monitors (svga/vga first, and then power), the display works? That being said as soon as I shut down it won't start again (see above) and takes a day or so before I can swap it over again to the better monitor? Really confused and really frustrating! I have absolutely no idea how to resolve it! The other two monitors obviously work though won't start up with the computer.

Any help or advice would be massively appreciated!

Many thanks in advance, Craig.

Most likely either resolution or refresh rate is wrong and thats why monitor won't stay on. Try booting to safe mode and see if it stays on. If it does then its the refresh rate or resolution needs to be changed.

Hi John, thanks for the advice. I'd thought it might be to do with the resolution/refresh rate as that's the only thing I've messed about with to try and get the best picture. Been trying different combinations and it doesn't seem to be having any effect yet, but I've probably not been through them all.

Tried to start in safe mode and it goes to the boot menu instead for some reason!! Don't know what's going on, ready to pull my lack of hair out!!! ;)

Thats fine some go to the boot menu when you press F8. But go ahead and select hdd as your boot device and then immediately press f8 button again and it will load safe mode options.
