so i just installed a northbridge fan atop my heatsink. now when i turn my computer on, it is REALLY loud. like a revving engine. so should i.....
1. buy silicon gel dampners to reduce overall noise
2. buy a quieter fan
3. get both

Well, you'll have to find another fan that is quiter but still shifts a good amount of air... as for the dampeners, I can't see them hurting, might as well give them a go...

Why do you want to cool your northbrige more than stock anyway?

mainly bcuz im overclocking and i read that you cpu, n. bridge, and ram should be the most important things to cool while ocing

Oh right, yeah, I supose if you're generating more heat in your computer it makes sense :P

If you can live with the noise, leave it, if you can't get a quieter fan and dampaner, though I doubt the dampaner will make much difference... just make sure it's screwed on tightly.

you can get sound dampening cloth that attaches inside you case which is supposed to help with the noise.... mightbe worth considering.
